1 Cup Sugar
¾ Cup Water
1 Tbsp. Orange Zest, Grated
¼ Tsp. Salt
12 oz. Fresh Cranberries
1 Loaf French Bread, ½” Slices
3 Tbsp. Butter, Melted
8 oz. Brie Cheese, Thinly Sliced

  1. Mix together sugar, water, orange zest and salt to a boil in large frying pan over high heat.   Stir frequently until sugar dissolves.  Add cranberries and return to a boil.  Reduce heat to low and simmer for a thick jam type sauce, about 7-9 minutes.  Remove from heat and completely cool.

Note:  Sauce can be made 1 week in advance and stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.  If made in advance, set the container out on counter 1 hour before using.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Brush butter over bread and toast in oven for 1-2 minutes.  Remove from oven and add a slice of brie and bake 5 to 7 minutes.  Top with 1 Tbsp. of cranberry sauce.  Toast can be prepared and toasted 1 day in advance and stored in an airtight container.

Note: Day of serving add brie and bake, then add cranberry sauce.  Serve warm.
